Our Team

Principal Investigator/Avifauna Taxa Specialist

Chairunas has experience as a biological consultant; especially the avifauna taxa. Chairunas is skilled in designing, implementing and evaluating wildlife research and conservation programs.

Chairunas completed his studies at the University of North Sumatra in 2012 and continued his master’s degree at the Bogor Agricultural Institute until 2017.

Currently, Chairunas is active in developing the WHiS Foundation conservation program for migratory shorebirds in North Sumatra and Aceh.

Principal Investigator/Amphibians and Reptiles Specialist

Gilang has an interest in studying herpetology, which is a field of science that studies groups of amphibians and reptiles.

Gilang completed his Masters study at the Bogor Agricultural Institute by publishing the results of his research with the topic “Philogenetic Analysis of Microhyla, Tschudi 1838 Based on the 16S rRNA Gene”.

Currently, Gilang is active as a teaching staff at Pancabudi University, North Sumatra.

Principal Investigator

Zulfan Arico is experienced in the field of forest ecology research and plant conservation, both in tropical and coastal forest areas.

Currently, Zulfan is active as a teaching staff as well as Chairman of the Center for Science and Technology at Samudra University, Aceh. In addition to actively teaching and guiding students, Zulfan continues to study forest conservation in the Gunung Leuser National Park and the Urban Plant.

Zulfan is also involved in the preparation of the Langsa Mayor’s Regulation on the Climate Village Program which is currently being developed.

Principal Investigator

Dedi is a practitioner of insect restoration and preservation activities, especially butterflies (Lepidoptera) who currently lives in Medan.

Dedi has visited at least the islands of Java, Bali and Kalimantan to observe a group of the Troides monarch butterfly whose population is now decreasing. Currently,

Dedi is developing a breeding and education center for butterfly conservation in Sibolangit, North Sumatra.

Creative Support

With a background as a journalist and photography editor at Analisa Daily, Andi Lubis is now developing his skills into the production of audio-visual materials and graphic design. Has a special interest in environmental issues, conservation and biodiversity.

Currently, he is actively teaching journalistic photography in universities and government institutions. Andi has also achieved several awards for his works at national and international levels, including The British Council Award in the UK and the World Press Photo Exhibition in the US.
